Libby, Libby, Libby
another first for libby! on friday, january 25th, tia mel and i took her into wild child for her first trim! her hair was getting a bit straggly so we figured it was about time. let's just say she wasn't a big fan! the tears started almost immediately and i had to hold her hands the whole time.
here she is (note the cape didn't last very long!):
libby is also very close to walking! she loves to push her little 'scooter' walker and walk all around the furniture and everything else. she's attempted going up the stairs a couple times (thanks to big brother cruz showing her the way) and has even tumbled down the top couple stairs to the landing a time or two (and usually ends up laughing!). our little girl is pretty fearless and will attempt almost anything cruz does. we're going to have to keep our eyes on her!
walking makes a girl tired!
tomorrow our baby girl turns 1! i can't believe how fast this year has flown by. she has brought so much joy to our family and we can't imagine life without her.
happy birthday princess! we love you!

Little Miss Libby is 11 Months!
this monday little miss libby turned 11 months old! i cannot believe that in less than one month she will be a year old. she has turned into quite the big girl lately - pulling herself up and walking around all of the furniture and whatever else she can find, babbling away to us and basically trying to do everything her big brother does. she is our little sweetheart and while she loves her new 'girly' toys, she's just as happy pushing cruz's trucks and tractors around and throwing balls and blocks everywhere! perhaps a little tom-boy in training?
unfortunately she's home with an ear infection today...the only good thing is that it's slowed her down a bit and she's into snuggling with me on the couch. we went into the doctor yesterday and she's now 18 pounds, 4 ounces - soon she'll be catching up to cruz! she loves to eat (pretty much table food exclusively - no more interest in the baby stuff!) and especially loves to try and feed herself.
11 months:
little miss piggy!
happy girl!
we love you libby!
Merry Christmas!
it's hard to believe christmas 2012 has already come and gone...the tree and all the decorations are already put away and this january rain is making it feel more like march! the other day cruz asked where pinky (our elf on the shelf) was and i had to tell him he went back to the north pole until next holiday season. we had a great christmas and it was so fun to watch everything through the eyes of cruz and libby. here are some photos documenting our fun:
unfortunately we had to cancel our trip to iowa the weekend before christmas...a major snowstorm, pink eye and a touch of the flu kept us home. we missed seeing all of the reedy and ahrens' families, but hope to get down for a visit sometime in the near future.
we hope you all had a wonderful christmas season as well!
xoxoxo,

Tis the Season!
A few more pre-Christmas pics before we head to Iowa to celebrate Heath's family Christmas (assuming everyone's healthy...Cruz is getting over pinkeye and Heath seems to have a touch of the flu or some stomach bug).
Breakfast with Santa at Primrose:
Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas is Coming!
not that i'm complaining, but we finally have a little snow and it's starting to feel a little more christmasy around here! they say we're in for 6+ inches tonight, but i still have to see it to believe it. regardless, christmas is coming and it's coming up fast! last sunday we had fun searching for the perfect tree. we made a trip to gertens greenhouse and took full advantage of searching in unseasonably warm weather:
decorating was a little more challenging with two little ones around, so i ended up waiting and doing most of it after the kids went to bed.

yesterday was a big day for us as well. two years ago, december 7th, 2010, we got the call we had been waiting for! we found out that we were going to be the parents of cruz! we are so lucky and blessed to call him our's. where has the time gone?
yesterday libby also turned 10 months old! what happened to my baby girl? she has turned into such a big girl lately. she is army crawling EVERYWHERE, pulling herself up, going up & down the step from the kitchen to the family room like a pro and basically doing whatever it takes to keep up with her big brother. she loves playing with his toys, especially his race track & cars, and no longer wants much to do with baby food. she is such a good eater and loves everything from pasta to veggies to chicken and mashed potatoes! her teachers tell us that she eats more than a lot of the older kids in her class! cruz better look out, she'll be catching up to him soon! she also recently learned to wave to us and is starting to learn a few basic signs in sign language. she's a little sweetie and is becoming more & more of a mama's girl. seriously, how cute is she?
we have been so blessed the last two years and can't wait to celebrate christmas with our family.
love to you all!

Updates...
today was a big day for us! we started off with an 8:00 meeting with cory, our lss social worker. we had a great visit with her, but it was a bit bittersweet...it was our final post-placement meeting! we are officially done with all of our adoption 'requirements'. it's kind of crazy and very hard to believe that this journey we began back in january of 2009 is complete. cory did share some sad news with us: los pisingos, cruz's first home, is closed. no one here is exactly sure why it's closed, but we have heard it's possibly a tax issue. unfortunately it's not sounding very good for them reopening. i've been thinking about this on and off all day and it makes me so sad thinking that it may not be there when we got back someday and it makes me wonder where all of the wonderful people there have gone. i hope and pray that someday they are able to reopen their doors and continue to provide a wonderful first home for more children. before cory left, i took a quick photo of her with cruz:
at lunch time, tia mel and i joined the kids at primrose for stone soup. we had a fun time seeing libby in her new room and seeing cruz with all of his friends. check out libby sitting at her table!
this afternoon libby also had her 9-month appointment. she was supposed to get her flu-shot, but we discovered that the poor girl has a double ear infection! so not shots for her, but we did get her stats:
height: 28.25", 75th percentile
weight: 17 lbs, 15 oz, 25th-50th percentile
head: 18, 90th percentile
heath is busy in the kitchen getting ready for thanksgiving. we certainly have a lot to be thankful for! happy thanksgiving to all!
