Cruz's 15th Month Appointment

today was a big day for the reedys! not only did we find out we're having a baby girl, we also had cruz's 15 month appointment. he wasn't able to get his shots since he is having surgery on friday (for those of you who don't know, he's having his umbilical hernia fixed and is also getting circumcised...poor little guy!), but he did have all of his measurements taken. here are his stats:

height: 30.25" (25th percentile)
weight: 21.04 lbs. (10th percentile)
head: 18.5 (50th percentile)

he is a happy, healthy, growing boy! pretty sure he's going to make a great big brother!

GIRL!!! Yes, Cruz is going to have a baby sister and she looks very healthy! Yippee!

Papa Mike & Grandma Jill Come to Visit!

last weekend heath's parents headed north from iowa to visit the three of us. we had a fun weekend catching up with them, relaxing at our house, hitting some garage sales, grilling out, etc. the weather was beautiful (sunny & hot!) and it was great having mike and jill spend some quality time with cruz. cruz loved hanging out with grandma jill and couldn't get enough of her! hopefully we can see them again soon this fall when we're down in iowa for a football game.

First Twins Game!

cruz got to attend his first twins game today! we weren't sure what to expect...we were hoping to get at least a few innings out of him and anything beyond that would be a bonus. the day was beautiful - not too hot, but not too cool. we got downtown about a half hour before game time and made the walk to target field. cruz loved looking at all the tall buildings and people walking around. we made it to our seats without any issues and cruz was excited to see his pal eli judson show up with his dad, nate. the boys had fun together - think cruz was excited to have a boy to hang with after spending the last couple weekend outings with all girls! :) he did a pretty good job sitting on my lap for about 3 innings and then he decided that was about enough sitting still! we went up to the concourse and walked around for another 2 or so innings and then called it a day. don't worry, the twins weren't giving us much to watch so we didn't feel too bad leaving early! all in all, a pretty good day. now it's back to work & school tomorrow after the long holiday weekend.

Up North!

last week we had the privilege of staying at a cabin up north at eagles nest resort near nisswa with my family! we had a blast and the weather was perfect - no rain! cruz and grandma judy were best friends...he could hardly stand to be away from her. we enjoyed walking up to nisswa on the paul bunyan trail everyday whether it was for coffee, some shopping or ice cream! heath went fishing several mornings - unfortunately the fish didn't seem to want to participate in his games. on thursday we rented a pontoon and had fun cruising around the lake, eating snacks, doing a little fishing and jumping in the water. thankfully cruz seems to love the water and isn't afraid once he's adjusted to the cooler temperature (compared to the 91 degree water at swimming lessons!). our cabin was cozy, but we made it work (it was kind of like colombia again with heath, cruz and me all in one room that had a crib, a twin bed and a full bed!).

a big thank you to grandma & grandpa johnson for a fun vacation! and thanks to tia mel for helping watch and play with cruz. we had a great time and are ready for next year...hmm, wonder how that will work with two kiddos?! :)

in other news....

not to be over-shadowed by the previous announcement, we have more exciting news to report: cruz is officially walking! he started taking a few steps earlier this month, but as of yesterday he seems to officially be walking. look out world, here he comes!

also wanted to mention that we had a super fun weekend last week with our good friends the ulstads! the whole family came and stayed with us from friday night until sunday morning. we grilled out, went to como zoo (where we also got to be reunited with the jaenischs, our friends we met in bogota!), went out for mexican and then saturday night we had erika and kory come and babysit all of the kids while we adults went to the twins game. so much fun! here are a couple pics from the weekend:
