Cruz is One!

our little man turned one on thursday! cruz had a great day at school...they had a bounce house and he loved it! that night the three of us had a small celebration at home and tomorrow afternoon we'll be celebrating with some of our family.

Road Trip!

we made our first road trip with cruz last weekend! we headed down to iowa to introduce him to all of heath's family and he was an awesome traveler. on friday afternoon he got to meet the reedy side of the family and on saturday he was introduced to the ahrens' at their annual summer get together at art & denise's. we had a blast introducing him to everyone and he was a hit with everyone!

this was a big week! not only did we road trip to iowa, but cruz started swimming lessons on tuesday night (with carmen!), he starred on the adoption panel at lss on thursday night (we got to share our adoption journey with the class) and on thursday he also started school at primrose! here he is on his first morning.

tomorrow is heath's first father's day! we love you daddy!

Summer Fun Has Begun!

summer has arrived here in minnesota (apparently we just skip spring now!)...cruz has enjoyed being out and about and loves meeting more new people all the time!

cruz continues to grow & change every day! he is now 11 months old and is crawling around everywhere and is starting to pull himself up on things. he loves to chatter and mimic us (especially daddy). he's such a good baby - still very happy and easy going. it's making life as a working mother that much easier! enjoy the pics.

April Showers Bring May Showers?!

yes, it's true, cruz and i were lucky enough to have two, yes TWO, more showers thrown in our honor during the month of may! on saturday, may 21st, my godmother shelly and two of my cousin-in-laws hosted a wonderful shower for my mom's side of the family at shelly's house in owatonna. cruz got to meet several of my cousins, aunts and great aunts and we all had a fun time sharing some laughs, eating some yummy food and enjoying each other's company. it seems like it's so rare that we all get together any more (weddings & funerals!), so it was so nice to spend time with all of them. here are a few photos from the beautiful day:

the following afternoon, the ladies in our neighborhood spoiled us rotten at annette's house! hosted by annette and sandy, cruz and i spent the afternoon enjoying some amazing food, chatting with the ladies (the neighbor girls loved him & he loved them!) and opening lots of presents. annette & sandy had some adorable decorations and we played a fun 'match the celebrity with the crazy babies' names' game (of course i got them all - thank you people magazine!). we had a great time and even found some more babysitters that live close by!
