Crazy Americans...

since some of our good friends are leaving for home tomorrow, we thought it would be a good idea for a bunch of us american families to head out to lunch together at archies pizza (a delicious pizza place that lets kids make their own pizzas in a special room!). we ended up with a table of twenty! :) luckily, we had an awesome waiter that spoke just enough english for all of us to get by. the food was delicious, the company was great and everyone had a fun time.

cruz wasn't quite old enough to make his own pizza so he dined on yogurt with pears and got bored with the whole situation and decided to nap in his high chair.

today was an absolutely beautiful day in bogota. it was sunny, blue skies and the temp was about 70! we've heard winter is back in minnesota (or maybe it never left) so we made sure to get out and enjoy the perfect day. had to make sure cruz had his sun protection on...

tonight we had to bid farewell to our friends, the zuges. they fly home to wisconsin bright and early tomorrow morning. we'll miss you john, nicole, athena & alton! thanks for showing us the ropes & sharing a table with us for 3 weeks! can't wait to meet up with you guys again in the future. xoxoxo!

Week 4 Rolls On....

it's so hard to believe, but we've almost been here for 4 weeks already! time is seriously flying by. many of you have asked if we've heard anything about coming home yet...we haven't, but honestly, we are still very content and happy here and are having a blast now that everyone is healthy again! the last two days have been filled with fun outings and happenings, despite the rainy, cool weather. wednesday morning we ventured out to unicentro with the jaenischs and the new family from northern minnesota (with the 3 boys). here are a couple fun photos from our trip:

wednesday afternoon the sun came out bright and warm, so cruz and i headed to the park with the jaenischs while daddy got some work done in the room. we all decided it would be a good idea to get ice cream while we were out...little did we know a downpour would ensue! we waited it out for over an hour, but finally decided to improvise and we threw both babies in the stroller, covered it with a plastic rain cover and made a run for it!

cruz & his girlfriend, lauren, pre-monsoon!

the rest of wednesday and all through the night, it absolutely poured! the reedys called it an early night and we all snuggled in our beds before 9:00!

thursday morning we awoke to more rain and grey skies. mary and i decided that it was finally time to get haircuts, so we headed over to norbertos (a short walk away) and left the kids with the dads. the male stylists were more than excited to see us and took good care of us! my haircut only ended up costing $10 and i think it turned out pretty dang good. in the word's of mary's stylist, 'i like her look'! :)

mary and i also decided that we were in need of a meal away from hotel paris, so we called two taxis and the reedys and jaenischs were off to zona rosa for some much needed mexican and it was delicious! (thanks for the recommendation freddy!) of course we had to snap a few more pics while we were out and about:

upon our return from zona rosa, we found juanita making empanadas in the kitchen! heath & i had the pleasure of joining her to learn how to make them. they are so yummy! here are some fun pics of our kitchen kraziness:

lastly, our fun day ended with a birthday party for cristian! he and his family just moved into hotel paris this week. there was music, dancing, party favors and course, yummy cake!

i am now headed to jacques for coffee and pastries with the ladies. don't worry, the dads get to go to happy hour at bogota beer company tonight!

hasta luego!

Kind of a Big Deal...

cruz slept through the night last night! he went to bed at 8:00 and slept until 6:30 this morning. yippee! i think the fresh air yesterday did him some good. :)

happy cruz after his long night of sleep

crazy hair after his bath

daddy did cruz's hair today - just like his!

cruz is taking another nap (maybe he's growing??) and then we're going to head on a walk to the mall with the jaenischs and possibly the new family from minnesota. they adopted 3 brothers from medellin and are here for the next few days before heading back to cloquet.

happy hump day!

Sunshine!

today has been a beautiful, mostly sunny day! hip hip hooray! we packed up the diaper bag and baby bjorn and headed out on our long-awaited walk right after breakfast this morning. cruz seems to be back to his old, sweet self and that makes us SO happy. it's great to see him smiling, giggling and content once again. sorry for the lack of pictures recently, but we did catch one cute one of him and i at juan valdez this morning:

hoping to maybe head our for some ice cream with the jaenischs in a bit. the zuges are busy working on their sentencia paperwork and still hope to head home to wisconsin this weekend. we wish them luck with everything!

with love,
ang, heath & cruz

Rainy Days and Mondays....

usually get me down, BUT cruz was feeling much better yesterday so it was a happy day for us! fever was broken and he was fever-free all day. we were hoping to go out for a walk in the afternoon, but the weather didn't cooperate. we ended up having 'game day' here at paris and had a blast. first heath crushed me at monopoly deal and then mary schooled lauren and i in garbage (fun game!). cruz power-napped for about three hours in the afternoon and heath napped for a while with him so i played some monopoly with john and nicole. after dinner, we gathered back around the coffee table to continue our game of phase ten. good times! i guess rainy days and mondays aren't so bad. :)

I'm Back!

hola from bogota! sorry for the delay in blogging...the combination of a sick baby, visiting grandparents and internet issues makes it difficult to get on the computer for any amount of time! we had a wonderful time with grandma and grandpa johnson during their visit and were very sad to see them go. i only wish cruz and heath would have been feeling better so we could have gotten out with them more. they did have a wonderful time with the zuges at the gold museum and apparently found a fabulous restaurant near there that we need to try when we finally get down there. we've certainly discovered that you can eat like a king for very cheap...just ask my dad about his steak dinner! :)
while the zuges and my parents were out being tourists, a very important call came for the zuges. when they got back to the hotel, they got their message and it was a great one - SENTENCIA! they started their paperwork on friday morning and are hoping to fly home the end of next week. here is a cute picture of my parents with athena & alton all dressed up:

that night we enjoyed another dinner at hotel paris with grandma & grandpa and finally got a picture of all us at the the table:

i'm not gonna lie, i think our boy is awfully cute even when he is sick:

i was so hoping that cruz would wake up feeling all better on friday, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. thursday night was a very rough night for all of us (he's really training us in as first time parents!) and his fever ended up getting as high as 104, so we had to have the doctor come back for another visit. she ended up prescribing him amoxicillin, so he's been on that for a few days now. poor little guy! we were hoping to take a trip to monserratte with grandma & grandpa that day, but little cruz had other plans so mommy & daddy stayed home with him while grandma & grandpa struck out on their own adventure (after some encouragement from us and mary!). they ended up having a great time at monserratte and got some beautiful pictures. i have to admit, i was a bit jealous, but we'll definitely be heading there at some point during our stay. here are just a few pics from their outing:

after their return, we enjoyed our last few hours hanging out with them and dined together at paris one last time. it was hard to say good-bye and we can't wait to see them again when we get home! we love you grandma & grandpa!

saturday morning cruz woke up feeling some better, but we knew we needed to stay inside so his improvement would continue. the doctor checked in on him again and said that his lungs sounded better, but she really wanted us to stay in both saturday and today. i have to admit, i'm going a little stir crazy in here, but cruz definitely seems to be getting better! each night has gotten better and he's much more himself, playful and smiley during the days. i did take a quick walk with the jaenischs yesterday afternoon and got an ice cream at mimos and we also picked up subway for their family and our's for dinner as we were all once again craving it! who knew?! last night we played some phase 10 with the zuges and jaenischs and hope to continue the game tonight. both of the french families left for home yesterday, so it's much quieter around here. we are so thankful to be spending our time here with the zuges and jaenischs and know that we have made new life-long friends. also, a big thanks to them for being so kind to our family during their visits! (forgot to mention that on friday, john zuge and my dad went to bogota beer company for happy hour and had a blast! you know poor heath still wasn't feeling quite 100% as he declined a beer outing!)

everyone else is out at the markets today. hopefully today is our last 'inside' day. heath just ran to the grocery store to pick up a few things and get me a mocha. yum! cruz is napping, so all is quiet.

buenos tardes!

The Latest & Greatest

hola! the last two days have been filled with sickness (heath & cruz), but hopefully everyone is on the mend! cruz has been really stuffed up and congested so we had the doctor check him out yesterday. he's been running a fever and coughing a lot at night so she gave him an inhaler and a mucus-relief medicine. he's still running a fever today, but seems to be feeling some better and is napping now. we sent roger and judy to the gold museum with the zuge family so they could get out and see something today. thank you john & nicole for being their tour guides! much appreciated!

yesterday, cruz, grandpa, grandma and i went to the leather district and sports district with freddy. grandma scored a new purse, grandpa got a new "man sack" and i found a beautiful laptop bag for work. score! don't worry, cruz got something special too....

cruz loves hanging out with grandma & grandpa - sick or not!
