Up North 2012!

last week we were fortunate enough to spend the week with my family at kavanaughs resort on beautiful sylvan lake near brainerd. after a crazy week prior (cruz getting over croup, libby's ear infection, my sinus infection, cruz's second trip to the doctor - which included another chest x-ray!), we were more than ready for a week of rest and relaxation. the weather was absolutely perfect and kavanaughs turned out to be the perfect family vacation spot for us (we've already booked the same cabin for the same week next summer!). it was wonderful having my family there to help with the kids and of course both cruz and libby loved all the attention from grandma, grandpa and tia mel!

highlights from the week included:

+ cruz LOVING superman ice cream & eating an entire cone by himself (twice)
+ renting the pontoon for the day - cruz caught his first fish (bigger than daddy's!)
+ libby scooting a little bit and rolling everywhere
+ libby's first attempts at baby food - bananas!
+ libby's first 2 teeth popping through
+ cruz & heath's "boys' trip" into brainerd for 'old mcdonalds'
+ libby, tia's & my "girls' trip" to maddens for coffee
+ the duck races
+ swimming in the lake & the pool almost every day
+ riding the surrey bike with cruz up front
+ flying daddy's balsa wood planes & grandpa's kite
+ a sunset walk on the dock with cruz & him saying, "i want to touch the moon mommy!"
+ cruz cuddling in bed with grandma every morning
+ walks with tia & grandma
+ an amazing week with the family

6 Month Stats

libby had her six month appointment today! we came away with some good news and some bad news. the good news was she didn't need to get shots! the bad news was she didn't get shots because she has an ear infection. who knew? she's been as happy as can be, no fever or anything. i'm just glad we found out today because we head up north on friday. she starts on amoxicillin tonight...while cruz is finally getting over the croup. oh, and i have a sinus infection! no fun being sick in the summer! let's just hope we're all happy and healthy by saturday.

height: 26", 50th-75th percentile
weight: 15 lbs, 3 oz, 25th-50th percentile
head: 17.25, 75th-90th percentile

We Have a 6-Month Old!

libby turned six months old on august 7th! despite the fact she was battling pinkeye, i did manage a few cute pictures.

right now i'm home with a sick cruz (he has the croup). keeping our fingers crossed that no one else gets it as we leave for up north for a week on saturday! can't wait!

More Summer Fun: July in Review

holy cow has it been HOT here! we've had lots of fun so far this summer...thought i better show off some of our fun times in july.

it was over 100 degrees here on the 4th of july (one of many 100+ days in minnesota this year)...luckily our good friends, the mcintyres, put in a pool at their new house and we got to enjoy it!

on the 7th we got to attend cruz's buddy liam's 2nd birthday party. it was a carnival and a super fun party!

libby thought it was pretty fun, too!

daddy built cruz a sandbox and installed his new digger from grandma & grandpa johnson!

july 15th...libby tried rice cereal! she wasn't sure what to think at first, but now she's loving it. what a big girl!

Libby is Five Months!

time is flying by! little libby is now five months old! she is such a little sweetheart and a happy little girl. i love her little giggles and how she laughs and coos in her crib in the mornings. she is the perfect little sister to cruz and he is so proud of her.

Happy 2nd Birthday Cruz!

our sweet little boy (well, most of the time he's still sweet!) turned 2 on june 23rd! daddy played in the annual rosemount firefighters' golf tournament with our friend nate, so mommy was on her own to start out the big day. i ended up taking the kids to kowalskis so cruz could pick out his own special birthday doughnut (and i could enjoy a coffee!). here is what he picked:

yes, the doughnut looks as big as his head but he actually managed to eat most of it. after his special breakfast, we headed home to wait for tia mel's arrival. once she arrived, we packed up and headed to the zoo! we had a great time watching the bird show, checking out the animals (his favorite for the day was the cows!), eating lunch and playing on the fun playground.

after the zoo we made a quick stop at the judsons to check on the golfers and say hi to pam, eli & addy, the mcintires and dale & sharon. cruz got to play baseball with the kids on the judsons own diamond and libby got some love from everyone.

we had to cut our visit short because tia and i had to get home to make cruz's mickey mouse birthday cake and cupcakes! we were pretty happy with how they turned out:

on sunday we had some family over for a mickey mouse clubhouse birthday party. cruz, carmen and i tried out the mouse ears:
