Easter!

the easter bunny made a visit to grandma & grandpa johnson's! it was so fun to watch cruz check out his gifts and hunt for eggs after church. experiencing the holidays through the eyes of your child is definitely as awesome as people tell you it is. it's so hard to believe that last year at easter we were introducing everyone to cruz and now this year we were introducing everyone to his baby sister, libby!

on thursday there was a special easter egg hunt at primrose for cruz and all of his classmates. libby and i went to watch and help big brother search. it was a beautiful afternoon and cruz had a blast!

2 Months Old!

libby is two months old today! how can it be? she is starting to grow and change so much now. we go in for her 2 month appointment on tuesday and i will update her stats then.

we're heading to owatonna to celebrate easter with my family. happy easter to all of you!

things have settled down around here (thank goodness!) and we are settling into a routine as a family of four. it's hard to believe libby is already 6+ weeks old - time is flying by! here are a few fun new photos of cruz and libby:

Too Much Excitement!

libby had her one-month wellness check-up today and unfortunately it was a little more 'exciting' than we had hoped. she has had a bit of a cold for the past week and yesterday we noticed that her cough was worse than it had been. we didn't think too much of it and decided to just mention it when we went in today. well, after checking her stats and asking how she was doing, we told the doctor about the cough. she checked her lungs and decided she sounded a bit congested and was concerned with her low weight gain (only one ounce in the past week) so she called for a chest x-ray to check for the possibility of rsv. having gone through this with cruz, i knew she was in for an unpleasant adventure in the radiology room. the poor little girl got strapped into the x-ray machine and was screaming at the top of her lungs while i had to step out of the room. i felt horrible! after the x-ray, we headed back to meet with the doctor and she was nervous about the x-ray results...she said things looked a bit 'hazy' and called childrens hospital to tell them we were on the way! she said that we didn't need an ambulance (thank god!) and that i could go home and meet heath if he was available (thankfully he was). she was concerned because of the low oxygen level, the low weight gain and the hazy x-ray and because libby is still so young, she didn't want to mess around. needless to say, i was now a bit worried and hurried home to meet heath. as soon as he got home, we headed to childrens in st. paul and checked in at the er. the nurse there took her vitals and her oxygen level was much better...not sure if it was a bad reading at the clinic or what...and she didn't seem nearly as nervous. we met with a resident and a doctor and they decided to test for rsv and influenza, but thought that the x-ray didn't look bad and that she sounded good. after spending about two hours in the room, we found out that the test results were all negative and that the doctor concluded she just has a cold! we need to monitor her and make sure her breathing stays normal, but other than that they think she should be fine. thank god!

after all that, here are her one-month stats:

weight: 7 lbs 9 oz.
height: 20.25"
head: 14 something...we didn't get paperwork w/ percentiles since things got a bit chaotic and urgent at the clinic.

let's hope for a little less excitement around here!

Miss Libby is One Month Old!

time is flying by! miss libby is now one month old...we go in for her one month appointment tomorrow and i will post her stats after the visit. she is still a happy baby and is so much more alert now. cruz is a very proud big brother and loves to talk about her at school and help me feed her and comfort her when she's crying. libby gets up about two times each night and i am officially accustomed to the lack of sleep. :) we've had lots of visitors come to meet libby and so far i think she's a hit with everyone!
