please come soon! we are all more than ready to meet you and this morning i received a request from a very special person that is excited to meet you! our families have gone through some rough times recently and could use some good news in the form of a phone call that you have finally been referred to us. we promise you will love it here and we will take such good care of you (and probably even spoil you just a little bit!). we're even going to be showered with more gifts for you next week at a special softball team baby shower for you and your cousin, baby girl benedict! (shout out to the foul swingers & 10RF!)
we can't wait to meet you!
love,
mommy & daddy

A Public Service Announcement
a colombian mommy facebook friend of mine shared this link and it really hits home. please check it out if you have a chance:

i know that none of you would ever say things with bad intentions, but some people just don't get it! adopted children are still our REAL children and adoptive parents are still REAL parents...we just arrived at our roles in different ways than most. :)
that's all...i'll get off my little soap box now.
have a great weekend!

Wooooo Hooooo!
guess what? the call finally came this morning! our dossier has arrived at los pisingos! my phone rang showing a "218" number at about 10:30 as i was driving from downtown minneapolis to another meeting in bloomington. whenever i see "218" i have to stop and think who it might be. my heart skipped a beat as i realized it could be bettina...and it was her! she said that our dossier had been delivered to LP and that means we could officially get a referral call anytime! YIPPEE! great news for an otherwise gloomy & dreary day. i will keep you posted as we learn more. :)
happy monday everyone!

Dream a Little Dream
sorry for the delays in blogging...i've been thinking about posting, but when you have no news to report it becomes difficult to think about what to write about. i wish i could write something like, 'we go the call! our dossier is now at los pisingos', but for some reason it's not quite time. i keep reminding myself that we must be patient because our child isn't quite ready for us...God has a plan for everything, right? heath keeps mentioning 'christmas in colombia' so maybe he'll be right. it certainly wouldn't be a bad thing to escape a minnesota winter for a couple months!
last night i actually dreamt that i was in colombia and was walking through the orphanage. there were little kids of all ages everywhere. some were coming up to me, asking me to play games with them and some just kept watching me walk around. at one point, a bunch of us got on an airplane to fly somewhere else. again, there were little colombian children all around me. i was getting settled into my seat when all of a sudden an alarm went off...unfortunately, that meant it was time to get up for work! it was a comforting dream and something to keep me positive during this lonnng wait. our little guy or girl will be here before we know it. just think, a year ago at this time i was just getting ready for my knee surgery! time does fly when you're having fun! :)
couple of side notes unrelated to the adoption:
-heath is off to north carolina early sunday morning for a week of training for work. his company has now officially merged with RJR and he is experiencing 'corporate america'...let's just say it's been an 'interesting' transition for him!
-i won a 19" LCD flat screen tv at a golf tourney yesterday!
-melissa & i are heading to iowa city tomorrow morning for the big iowa/isu game - GO HAWKS!
happy fall!

Perfect Timing!
just when i was starting to get a little down about how long the wait is starting to feel and how nothing seemed to be happnening, a package arrived on our doorstep. what was in this package? three special books to fill baby reedy's library! 'good night gorilla', 'little miss spider' and 'chicka chicka abc' were sent to our family from the degel family. thank you so much ang, kevin & avery! your timing was impeccable and put a smile on my face! :)

Wait, Wait, Wait
sorry for the lack of blogging lately, but unfortunately there hasn't been any news to report. boo! we're still "patiently" waiting for the call that our dossier has been moved to los pisingos. we are now at 15+ months of waiting and have always been told that the average wait is 15-25 months so at least we have arrived at the 'average' time! (trying to find something positive!) unfortunately, it's now time to start thinking about updating several of our documents so i will be starting that process in the next couple weeks.
it's hard to believe how fast the summer of 2010 is flying by! it's been a fun one so far & we look forward to making many more memories with all of you!
have a great weekend!
