A Special Gift

i know i've mentioned our friends stacy & brandon in previous posts (they are the ones that are in the process of adopting their second child from korea and that have been our 'adoption role models' throughout our journey). stacy wasn't able to attend the shower, but i was able to see both her and her sister-in-law roxy at roxy's baby shower on sunday (she and cory are expecting identical twins in july!). stacy & roxy both surprised me with gifts after roxy's shower (thank you ladies!) and i just had to share a picture of the plaque stacy made for me. i love it!

Baby Reedy Got Showered!

wow! baby reedy certainly got spoiled this past weekend! i was fortunate to be the guest of honor at baby reedy's first shower on saturday. my sister mel and one of my best & oldest friends, courtney, threw me an absolutely amazing shower! there were fun games, delicious colombian food (thanks to the daddy-to-be, chef heath's, assistance), a ridiculous amount of fabulous gifts, yummy cake and so much fun and laughter shared by everyone. it was truly a special day and i want to thank everyone that was a part of it for making the day so wonderful. mel & court, THANK YOU for everything! i loved everything about the day. baby reedy thanks all of you, too! we feel so blessed to have such great friends and family supporting us throughout this amazing journey. love you all!

Home Study Update

buenos tardes! we had our official home study update meeting with cory yesterday morning at our house and all went well. she had to review a few items with us, we presented her our updated documents and then she asked if we had been through any major changes in the past year or so. all in all, an easy meeting. it was really fun catching up with her and she updated us on the latest happenings in the adoption world. she also provided us with a connection to another colombia-american family that lives nearby and who recently returned from colombia. we are very excited to connect with them and meet their children and to hear all about their adventures.

no changes to report in our status. our dossier is still with cecilia and is not yet at los pisingos. bettina has assured me that she will let us know as soon as that happens. i have to admit, i'm finally starting to get "anxious"...the first 12 months flew by, but now i am ready to meet our child! i have my first official baby shower on the 22nd thanks to courtney & melissa. can't wait to see what kind of goodies we receive for baby reedy!

Sandra Bullock is My New Fave Actress

why you may ask? because of her statement regarding her adoption: "we didn't want to go at it any other way than the way everyone else would have to do it. there are hoops, but the hoops are there to protect the child. and worth every jump." i LOVE it. thank you sandra for not using your celebrity status and for going through all the hoops, the ups, the downs, the frustrations and the excitement that we're all going through.

Make Room For Baby!

the nursery is coming along! check out our new additions. daddy heath put together the glider rocker and swing this week and we even managed to raise up the crib to the proper level this morning. i ordered the matching dresser yesterday and that should be arriving in the next two weeks. starting to feel like this baby is going to have nicer things than us! :)

Update Time

happy spring! we just had a wonderful, fun-filled spring weekend here in minnesota! friday night we went to the minnesota wild game with our good friends bill & cyndi, saturday (my 34th birthday!) we headed down to the absolutely amazing, all-new target field for the twins exhibition game against the st. louis cardinals with our good friends (and co-season-ticket holders) nate & pam and sunday we spent easter with my family down in owatonna. all in all, a perfect birthday weekend! the weather was beautiful and i have to admit, i felt like a kid in a candy store when i arrived at the twins game. target field is everything i imagined and more! our seats are amazing (right behind home plate) and the views of downtown are gorgeous. i love it! can't wait to head back next thursday for a noon game against the red sox.





now back to our adoption journey...we found out today that we need to have our homestudy updated as it has almost been one year! we need to update a few forms, have cory (our social worker) come back to our house for another visit and update our background checks (new fingerprints not yet needed...thank goodness!). when i first read the email about updating things i felt a little discouraged, but at the same time i cannot believe how fast the past year has flown by! filling out and updating a few more forms is such a small price to pay now that our journey is moving closer to our happy ending. we are so excited to meet baby reedy!

before i sign off for the night, i must send out a special thank you & shout out to the gals in my book club! they completely suprised me last tuesday night when they presented me with a big box wrapped in baby paper...it was our baby swing! yay! thank you so much ladies!
