Make Room For Baby!

the nursery is coming along! check out our new additions. daddy heath put together the glider rocker and swing this week and we even managed to raise up the crib to the proper level this morning. i ordered the matching dresser yesterday and that should be arriving in the next two weeks. starting to feel like this baby is going to have nicer things than us! :)

Update Time

happy spring! we just had a wonderful, fun-filled spring weekend here in minnesota! friday night we went to the minnesota wild game with our good friends bill & cyndi, saturday (my 34th birthday!) we headed down to the absolutely amazing, all-new target field for the twins exhibition game against the st. louis cardinals with our good friends (and co-season-ticket holders) nate & pam and sunday we spent easter with my family down in owatonna. all in all, a perfect birthday weekend! the weather was beautiful and i have to admit, i felt like a kid in a candy store when i arrived at the twins game. target field is everything i imagined and more! our seats are amazing (right behind home plate) and the views of downtown are gorgeous. i love it! can't wait to head back next thursday for a noon game against the red sox.

now back to our adoption journey...we found out today that we need to have our homestudy updated as it has almost been one year! we need to update a few forms, have cory (our social worker) come back to our house for another visit and update our background checks (new fingerprints not yet needed...thank goodness!). when i first read the email about updating things i felt a little discouraged, but at the same time i cannot believe how fast the past year has flown by! filling out and updating a few more forms is such a small price to pay now that our journey is moving closer to our happy ending. we are so excited to meet baby reedy!

before i sign off for the night, i must send out a special thank you & shout out to the gals in my book club! they completely suprised me last tuesday night when they presented me with a big box wrapped in baby paper...it was our baby swing! yay! thank you so much ladies!

hope everyone had a happy easter weekend!
love,

Dossier Has Been Delivered!

our dossier has been delivered and officially arrived in bogota at cecilia's office at 9:22 am this morning. hooray! let the translation begin!

Dossier Delivery!

it's finally happened...all of our documents have been filled out, signed, notarized, apostilled and packaged up! our dossier is set to arrive in bogota this wednesday! YAY! i was honestly starting to wonder if it was ever going to happen (finding spanish speaking notaries & notaries that don't expire in the next 6 months, fingerprint rejections, forgotten apostilles, etc, etc!), but now it finally has. once the dossier is received by cecilia, she will translate it into spanish and send it over to los pisingos. we will then be one of just a handful of families (maybe 5?) waiting for referral. it could literally happen any day! yippee! this is starting to get verrrrry real now. we can't wait!

A Spring Surprise!

i received a wonderful surprise when i went home for lunch today...after only 2.5 weeks, heath's fingerprints / background check came back APPROVED from the fbi! yay!!! now i can put together our complete dossier package and send it down to cecilia in colombia this week for translation. upon translation, the dossier will be submitted to los pisingos and then we are able to receive a referral at any time. thanks to all of you who kept us in your thoughts & prayers during this 'anxious' time for us. sometimes good things do happen!

let's hope march continues to be a month full of wonderful suprises and news. our good friends, the urban's, received news that they will be welcoming a baby girl to their family later this year! chloe elizabeth park urban is the new little sister of proud big brother noah. congrats to the urban's!

enjoy this beautiful weather...you never know how long it will last here in minnesota!

Nuestra Nueva Familia!

hola! we are now part of a new family! heath & i were warmly welcomed to the upegui family & home in coal valley, illinois this past weekend. i believe i mentioned the upegui family in an earlier post, but in case you may have forgotten, jose manuel upegui works for kone in moline. he and his wife, luz helena, are both originally from colombia (armenia for jose & medellin for luz helena) and graciously offered to share their knowledge & love of the colombian culture with us. we had a wonderful time with them on saturday night! luz helena prepared a delicious dinner for us & they both shared very useful information & many stories about colombia in general as well as some specifics about bogota. we were able to meet their son, jose luis, and heard a beautiful story about their daughter, luz angelica, and her suprise "QSS" party (a very special blending of her quinceanera, celebrating her latino heritage, and her sweet sixteen).

it was a very special night for us as the stories shared helped put us even more at ease with our upcoming visit to colombia and also made us that much more excited to travel there to pick up our baby! we take great comfort in knowing how loving and caring colombian families truly are. the upegui's are so proud of their culture and have done a wonderful job combining their two cultures. at the end of the evening they presented us with two small gifts: a package of 100% colombian coffee & a copper replica of an indian mask! we took a few pictures together (i will post them as soon as luz helena sends me copies!) and left with the feeling that we are now part of a new family (nuestra nueva familia).

we look forward to growing our relationship with the upegui family & cannot wait to learn even more from them! we will be eternally grateful for this special connection.
